Week 8
Week 8 in 'theONE6'...
The last 2 days have been a wonderful trial of LearningMYway! Students have been given a set of tasks... MUST DO SHOULD DO CAN DO and have created their own timetables by selecting what and when. I have seen some brilliant examples of self-management over the last 2 days and it is very exciting.
It has been fantastic to see kids using their blog, completing their Maths, doing some creative writing, playing Maths games on Mangahigh Math / Maths Buddy, #NZreadaloud1, tweeting.... ka pai tamariki.
Reply to me about whether you have enjoyed making your own timetable....

You are very welcome Kristina... it is fantastic to see some of you managing yourselves so easily!
DeleteI loved making my own time table because it made me feel more independant.
ReplyDeleteJackson
That is one of the big purposes of LearningMYway... to have students feel more independent and in control of their own learning.
DeleteI was new I have never done that before I hope that I can do this more often
ReplyDeleteI am pleased to hear that you have enjoyed the little bit we have done. We will be doing our classroom this way for most of the year once we have set it up!

ReplyDeleteAwesome Lily... we will get into it even more next Term:)
DeleteI love learning my way MissT because it is fun doing maths when we want.By Mitchell
ReplyDeleteThat is good Mitchell. I think it is important that students have some choice about this...it could mean you focus more and even get more done!!
DeleteHi ms T its Chloe here, i love doing learning my way and getting to do my work at my own pace and not having to wait for other people before i go onto the next task. Where did the idea come from? It it is a great way to get me excited about learning.
ReplyDeleteI love it when i hear students telling me this! It makes me realise it is worth all the time it takes to set up. The idea has come from lots of reading I have done about how to make classrooms better for kids! It makes ME really excited to hear YOU excited about learning. YAY for us!!

DeleteHi Ms T it's Jasmine.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed making my own timetable even if it wasn't for long. It was very interesting working on my own timetable not the teachers.
It is different from last year and i personally think it is a good change. It is a great way to get people excited about coming into the classroom. Do you like learning my way as much as I do?
Hey Jasmine,
DeleteI am really glad you liked making your own timetable (for the short time we did it). I think it will be very motivating for learners like yourself who can 'move on' at your own pace. I also think it will get kids more excited about coming to class. And yes... I love LearningMYway...this will be my 3rd year working this way:)
